Don’t call today at all
There’s east aurora beckoning
Can’t you hear the noise at all?
There’s guns at school and MTV
I bought myself a nice new knife
That’s sharp as indecency
And molded- metal- strife.
You know?
You know let’s die today-
I bought myself a gun
We’ll trip across the straight-a-ways
We’ll soar across the sun.
When you’re desperate it all feels like love
speechless and-
I’ll put your words in my mouth
And taste till the sound comes out
No meaning and all thought
I ate it-
Find me scattered in a drywall box
Where the ceiling drips
And never stops
No, not today-
Don’t try to call,
And ohh, there’s Marilyn Monroe-
The knife I bought is now hanging from a thread right by my window,
I pinned money on my wall
And set up a sign to let em all know
It’s all just a gimmick to get the bad men down-
To bring my daddy back home.
And I sold my gun today-
You know?
To an eager five year old
So he could take that news to school
And I’d have more to hear about
More to laugh about in the world.
Baby-write a song on it-
Let it play on MTV
So I can trip off on the silver screen and finally feel
Finally feel something.
But don’t call today, no don’t call today at all
I don’t care if I see your face
Or know your name- I’m caught up in-
I’m selling dope
And sipping cold
Watching reflections of a sunrise pooling in the shards of my affection,
dripping slow-
There’s nothing but knives and guns.
A cure for chaos you’ve always known-
to never grow so coy.
East aurora beckoning-
I’m sucking out the noise
To spit that ish on MTV
And sell guns to little boys.
